Buyers Guide to P6 Body Panels

Front Valance

The edges which attach the front valance to the wings tend to rot, in addition the slats often become damaged by stones etc.

Bonnet

The aluminium bonnet is prone to erosion around the badge fixings and is often covered in small dents. It is not unheard of for the bonnet to crease around the hinges, this is a sure sign that the bonnet dosen't get opened very often.

Front Decker Panel

The front decker very rarely rots, unless leaves have been allowed to build up around the heater.

Front Wings

Front wings tend to go below the sidelight housing and just behind the roadwheel, there is a stiffening panel here which acts as a moisture trap.

Front Doors

If the window rubbers have been allowed to perish water runs down the inside of the door panel, if the drain holes have filled with debris the bottom of the door skin and the casing will soon rot out. The first part to go is the lower rear corner. In some cases the door can rot around the window frame surround just below the lock mechanism.

Rear Doors

Rear doors rot in the same areas as the fronts and usually for the same reason, good quality replacement rubbers are available from S&G Walker.

Rear Decker Panel

Rear decker panels can rot around the petrol filler aperture and around the rear screen seal.

Rear Wings

Rear wings can rot from the rear quarter panel right down to the wheelarch lip and around the tail light cluster

Boot

The boot is aluminium and can corode around the badges, the lock and the number plate plinth,

Rear Valance

The rear valance is susceptible to rot at each end where the valance-to-wing bolts are and the lower edge.
